Bogucki: Żurek's bill has no chance of being signed by the president

The Presidential Palace will prepare a draft act or acts aimed at sorting out the situation in the judiciary and will submit a package of solutions to the Sejm this year – said the head of the Chancellery of the President, Zbigniew Bogucki, in an interview for “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna”.

In an interview published on Wednesday, Bogucki, when asked about the project of changes in the judiciary prepared by Minister of Justice Waldemar Żurek, said that it was not a compromise.

– Let me tell you straight: the project of the Minister of Justice is not a compromise at all. This is a return to the concept presented by Adam Bodnar – derogatory of almost 3,500 Polish judges, contemptuously called “neo-judges”. We are dealing with an attempt to stigmatize one third of Polish judges, said the head of the presidential office.

– The segregation of any social or professional group into categories or – as the government proposes – colors, is reminiscent of the worst times – he added.

According to him, the project of dividing judges into better and worse ones only based on the date of their appointment is not only absurd, but above all completely illegal. “This is deepening the chaos of lawlessness,” he added.

– There is no chance that such an act – if, of course, it was adopted in this form by the parliament – would gain the president's signature – said Bogucki. (PAP)
