Ciprian Ciucu, the PNL candidate for the Capital City Hall, criticized Cătălin Drula, the USR candidate, on Monday evening on Antena 3, because “he did not come to the coalition” to present the project that transposes the results of the 2024 referendum into law before submitting it to the Chamber of Deputies.
The liberal's statement comes in the context in which, also on Monday, Cătălin Drula announced that the emergency procedure for the project was rejected by PSD, PNL and AUR votes.
“I proposed that in this campaign I would be a little more zen and not attack Cătălin Drula, whom, by the way, I appreciate as a politician (…), as a professional, nor Daniel Băluță, but I will have to remind Cătălin, USR, fortunately, is part of the coalition and we have a protocol, and this protocol says like this, when you want to promote a normative act, you come and discuss it in coalition to ensure that that normative act will pass”, said Ciprian Ciucu, currently mayor of Sector 6.
The PNL candidate said that he too believes that the results of the referendum must be implemented.
“Here, I very much agree with Cătălin, this referendum must be put into practice, but it did not come in the coalition as is normal, somehow, that is, let's see the project first! It was only submitted to the Chamber, which somehow shows me the intention that he went specifically to say, “aha, don't vote for Nicușor Dan's referendum and don't support it”. Well, wait a minute, because we didn't discuss it in the coalition, you just submitted it, for a few days, and you didn't enter into a discussion, let's see how we improve it!”, continued Ciprian Ciucu.
“Let's bring this project to the coalition table”
Ciprian Ciucu claims that he has not seen the project initiated by Cătălin Drula.
“I said I support it as an idea, but I don't know what I'm supporting, because I asked him to send me the project and he said he was sending it to me, he didn't send it to me, in the end, but that's not how it's done. When you want to get consensus, you do everything you can to get consensus to pass your bill, that is, first you go and present it to the partners from whom you want support”, added the candidate PNL.
He said the project must be discussed in the coalition.
“My invitation is as sincere as possible, let's bring this project to the coalition table, let Cătălin Drula also come there, let's discuss it and put it into practice. Because, fundamentally, he is right, but it matters a lot, you see, and the way in which you, in fact, what are you looking for? Are you looking to have the project voted? And then it's perfect. Or are you looking to have a reason to point the finger? I'm not good at that of stratagems”, Ciprian Ciucu also declared.
