An Italian firefighter was left traumatized after finding his son dead at the scene of a road accident he had been called to. The 25-year-old was returning home from a party.

According to the Daily Mail, Omar Masia, 25, was returning home from a party with four friends on October 25 when the car they were in overturned and ended up in a ditch around 4am in Gallura, Sardinia, Italy.
The driver of the vehicle was able to escape and ran to a nearby house to call for help, unable to call emergency services due to poor signal in the area.
A team of firefighters quickly arrived at the scene of the accident to intervene and provide first aid to those in the car, including Omar, an electrician from Calangianu, Sardinia, who was trapped in the back seat.
However, one of the firefighters who arrived at the scene was his father, Massimiliano.
The commander of the Sassari Fire Department, Antonio Giordano, told La Repubblica: “We are in shock. The whole team went down the slope, and Massimiliano realized that his son was right in front of him. All the boys were removed from the car, taken to the overpass and resuscitated. Unfortunately, the only one who didn't survive was Omar.”
Giordano said she sought psychological support for the grieving father: “I personally called the psychological support service for Massimiliano and the four colleagues who were with him last night. Everyone is devastated by the tragedy that has befallen our family.”
An investigation has been opened to determine how the tragedy occurred.
Although excessive speed is believed to be the main cause of the accident in which Omar lost his life, authorities are also checking the condition of the road, given that the area had been affected by bad weather in recent days.
Tests are also carried out to determine whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
