Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated, on Digi24, that “people from the coalition” who have better solutions to Romania's problems should tell them and even initiate censure motions for the formation of another majority. At the same time, he said that he does not want to be prime minister under any circumstances.

Invited to comment on the criticism addressed to him from the PSD camp, Ilie Bolojan said that these criticisms come because of decisions that must be made regardless of who is in government.

“This coalition was formed four months ago against the background of some very serious problems Romania was facing: 1. the budget crisis, 2. an economy that must be put on a healthier foundation, 3. the crisis of confidence among the population (…) The protocol was assumed by all parties. I respected the protocol, I respected my partners and agreements, but I didn't try to pretend that things had to be done, to say one thing and do another,” he said the prime minister

He added that the reduction of the expenses of the Romanian state must be done, regardless of who will be the prime minister. “Any coalition will end up with its back against the wall if it doesn't take these decisions,” said the head of government.

Bolojan invited his critics within the coalition to come up with other solutions, which they think are better, to Romania's problems, including the creation of a new government majority, following a no-confidence motion.

“My stake is not to be prime minister under any conditions. If people in the coalition have better solutions, tell them. They can initiate censure motions, they can make a majority as they want. If they had these ideas, they should have put them into practice for years,” said the prime minister.

He also said that the contradictory statements within the coalition only raise questions about the stability of the coalition.

“The dialogue we are seeing gives the feeling of instability, and in the eyes of the citizens, of unseriousness. You have not seen me potentiating conflicts…”, Ilie Bolojan also said.
