Maia Sandu comes to Bucharest to participate in the Consecration of the painting of the National Cathedral. He will have a meeting with Nicusor Dan

The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, will pay an official visit to Bucharest on Sunday, October 26, according to a press release sent by the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova.

During the visit, Maia Sandu will participate in the Consecration Service of the painting of the National Cathedral in Bucharest, at the invitation of His Beatitude Father Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
At the same time, the President of the Republic of Moldova will have a meeting with the President Nicusor Dan, during which aspects of bilateral cooperation and relations between Bucharest and Chisinau will be discussed.
The consecration ceremony of the National Cathedral is scheduled for October 26, 2025 and will be officiated by Patriarch Bartholomew, together with Patriarch Daniel of Romania.
After this year's consecration, the National Cathedral will remain open for liturgical service and the participation of the faithful.
The cathedral in an international context
In an analysis by “Adevărul.ro”the National Cathedral is among the largest religious buildings in the world, along with St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican, the Basilica of Our Lady of Aparecida (Brazil), the Milan Cathedral and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York.
In terms of dimensions, the edifice in Bucharest exceeds the surface of other large churches in Europe and ranks among the top ten places of worship in the world in terms of built volume.
