The right midfielder was suspended by the English on 30 January 2022, following allegations of rape from Harriet Robson, his ex-girlfriend, but the Royal Prosecution Service (Crown Prosecution Service) in Great Britain announced in February 2023 that the proceedings were closed.
Mason Greenwood could return to Manchester United
Greenwood left Manchester United in July 2024. He transferred to Marseille for 31.6 million euros. The English have reserved a percentage of 50% of the income obtained from a future sale of the player.
The 24-year-old forward has largely made commendable developments since his move to France.
In the previous season he scored 21 goals and provided 5 assists in 34 matches. With his 4 goals in Saturday's 6-2 win over Le Havre, he took his tally to 7 goals and 4 assists in 10 games in all competitions this season.
Manchester United”has decided to make an ambitious move in the transfer market and is preparing around €100 million to bring Greenwood back in the summer“, notes the Spanish publication Fichajes.
And he adds: “Manchester United have let Mason Greenwood leave for Olympique Marseille in 2024 for around €32m, retaining a 50% clause on a future sale.
Sources close to the English club indicate that they are not satisfied with just getting this percentage and want to remedy the situation with a full buyout.
€100m would allow Mason Greenwood to be brought back without United having to share the profits or be dependent on sell-on clauses. The club also appreciates the player's performance in France,” added the Spaniards.
