In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the owner of a bathhouse was sent to a colony for the death of a man during a corporate party.

The prosecutor's office said that everything happened back in December 2021. The company rented a house with a bathhouse on the banks of the Yenisei in the village of Selivanikha. At the height of the celebration, the bathhouse caught fire.

“There were no fire extinguishers, alarms or warning systems in the house. The vacationers tried to put out the flames with improvised means, but the fire spread too quickly. Not everyone managed to escape – when firefighters arrived, the body of a 41-year-old man was found in a smoke-filled room,” the press service said.

It turned out that the house where the tragedy occurred was private. There was no fire safety system. In addition, the stoker was drunk that day. His actions led to overheating of the furnace and subsequent fire.

“They tried to extinguish the fire themselves using water from the font, since there were no fire extinguishers in the room,” said colleagues of the deceased.

In court, the owner of the house tried to blame her employee for the incident. But the state prosecutor insisted that the woman provided services that did not meet the requirements for the safety and health of consumers. They caused the death of a person (clause “c” of Part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). She was sentenced to 2 years in prison to be served in a general regime colony.

The court also ordered compensation for moral damages in the amount of 1.8 million rubles from the convicted person in favor of the victims.

Previously, the criminal case against the fireman for causing death by negligence (Part 1 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) was terminated due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.
