The Commander of the Military Hospital, Major General Florentina Ioniță-Radu, was brought, on Thursday evening, to the headquarters of the military section of the DNA for hearings, at the end of a day in which the prosecutors conducted searches in a file in which the research facts are abuse of office, complicity in abuse of office and usurpation of official qualities.
Upon entering the DNA headquarters, the general did not make any statements.
DNA prosecutors carried out 19 searches during the morning, one of them at the “Carol Davila” Military Hospital in Bucharest, in a file with accusations of corruption and abuse of office, judicial sources told HotNews.
Several military personnel are targeted in the investigation
Subsequently, the DNA officially reported that military prosecutors are conducting investigations in a criminal case involving military medical personnel who are suspected of having committed acts of corruption in the period 2020-2023.
“During the day of October 16, 2025, as a result of obtaining legal authorizations from the competent court, house searches are carried out in 19 locations located within the radius of Bucharest municipality and Ilfov county, one of which is in an office located in a public institution, the rest representing the homes of natural persons”, stated the DNA in a press release.
The facts in the file are abuse of office, complicity in abuse of office and usurpation of official capacities. More than 17 people are targeted by the searches. Among them is Forentina Ioniță, the general director of the Military Hospital, and several current and former military personnel, according to HotNews sources.
They are suspected of supplementing their income through illegal payments in European projects, through the accumulation of functions and fictitious time attendance. According to News.ro, searches also take place at Florentina Ioniţă's home.

Older suspicions of corruption
In a message posted on Facebook, the Minister of Defense stated that he knew since June of the existence of suspicions of corruption and files at the DNA and the Military Prosecutor's Office, which is why he did not extend his mandate.
“The mandate ends at the end of the month (October). I made this decision after being informed by the Control Body about the existence of suspicions of corruption and files at the DNA and the Military Prosecutor's Office,” wrote Moșteanu.
The minister also stated that Florentina Ioniță reaches retirement age in 2022, but she benefited from mandate extensions from previous ministers. “Under these conditions, I also signed and submitted the documents for the transfer to the reserve”, added Moșteanu.
According to the minister, in the next period, the management of the hospital will be temporarily taken over by an officer, deputy commander, appointed by the Medical Directorate. Afterwards, an open competition will be held to fill the position.
Florentina Ioniță, appointed in January 2014 to head the Central Military Hospital, during the mandate of Traian Băsescu, is primary internal medicine physician, primary gastroenterology physician, doctor of medical sciences.

She is a major general, the first female commanding general of the Military Hospital and a close relative of general Cătălin Zisu, who was also investigated by the DNA for abuse of office in another case, in connection with the expansion of the Ghencea Military Cemetery and burial places given to people who did not meet the legal conditions.
