The curls are thick, but the hair does not fall out: I use the secrets of my grandmothers from the times of the USSR – I admire the lush hair

Looking through old photographs, we all notice how gorgeous the hair of women of those times was. The pictures show women with tight braids, thick waves and neat hairstyles without a hint of bald spots or breakage.

People of the older generation say that there was almost no hair loss then, and mass baldness did not exist at all.

Experienced trichologists have revealed 3 secrets, thanks to which our grandmothers’ hair remained strong and vibrant until old age.

1. Minimum chemicals and styling

Soviet women did not have shelves filled with varnishes, mousses, foams and volume powders. The varnish was used only “for going out”, for holidays.

No straightening irons, curling irons or endless hair dryers. The hair was dried naturally or under a large dryer in the hairdresser.

My hair rarely became dry, broke or lost strength.

2. Natural shampoos and dyes

Cosmetics were different, often without sulfates, parabens and silicones. Shampoos were made on a soap basis, with herbal additives, and at the same time they cleaned perfectly and smelled pleasant.

And women painted themselves with henna and basma, which were completely natural. But they did not contain ammonia or aggressive chemicals. Dyeing did not destroy the hair, but on the contrary, it strengthened it.

3. Folk remedies instead of salons

Then there were no beauty salons on every corner, but there were simple and effective home recipes.

The most popular masks were made from what could always be found on hand:

  • Kefir or sour milk – for softness
  • Yolk – for nutrition
  • Herbal decoctions – for shine and strengthening

One of the most favorite hair masks in the USSR:

  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tbsp. l. honey
  • 1 finely grated onion

The mixture is applied to the hair, left for about an hour, then washed off with warm water. To remove the smell of onions, rinse your hair with water and apple cider vinegar. And as a result, the hair became thick, strong and shiny without a drop of silicone and keratin.

Question and answer:

Is henna suitable for all hair?

Yes, but she can dye her blonde hair red. For blondes, colorless henna is suitable as a means of strengthening without changing color.

What to choose instead of shampoo with sulfates?

Gentle plant-based cleansers.

Why was grandma's hair thicker?

They were not exposed to constant stress – neither from products, nor from frequent dyeing, nor from lack of sleep and nutritional deficiencies characteristic of our time.
