“We will not give money for weapons.” Babisz has a proposal regarding Ukraine

— If we are in the government and Czech arms companies want to export weapons to Ukraine, we will not have a problem with it. But we will not provide Ukraine with arms or the crown directly from the budget. We don't even have money for the Czech Republic. We helped Ukraine directly, and now we will help through the European Union, Babis said at a press conference.

Commentators in Prague pointed out that the declarations of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, who returned to power in the fall of 2024, sounded very similar and declared that he would not transfer “a single bullet” to Ukraine.
Referring to the Czech ammunition initiative, the liquidation of which he proposed during the election campaign, Babisz said that it was good, but it should be transparent and should be implemented directly by NATO member states.
Politicians from Babisz's ANO movement claim that there is no question of the end of the initiative, but only its verification. In 2024, thanks to this initiative, Ukraine received 1.5 million artillery shells. This year, it has already received 1.1 million 155 mm bullets.
