Deputy Prime Minister Tanczos Barna states that all state institutions had time to prepare to cope with the phenomena announced by meteorologists. “What we see now is a classic example of climate change,” said the Deputy Prime Minister, adding that in the areas targeted by the Red Code is usually drought.

“The preparations are definitely made and the possible measures are taken. The forecast is extremely unfavorable. It is not an immediate event, we had time to prepare,” said Deputy Prime Minister of the Environment on Tuesday evening, former Minister of the Environment, talking about the warnings of meteorologists, “News.ro.

He appreciated that ISU, Romanian waters and other institutions had time to prepare.

“What we see now is a classic example of climate change (…) that generates extreme phenomena. Exactly on this map, in that area we have a pedological drought,” Tanczos said, referring to the map with the warnings issued by meteorologists.

The Deputy Prime Minister explained that exactly the areas targeted by the red code and the orange code are the ones that are usually recognized for drought: “And now we have floods (…) It is difficult to fight the phenomena of climate change, but we have the proof that they exist, we face them.”

“We realize how important the investments that the Romanian waters from European money could have made were and they did not, they lost hundreds of millions of euros in the last two or three years. They had from the PNRR almost 400 million euros, the money was lost in a proportion of 95%,” Tanczos said.

Meteorologists have issued a warning of a red and abundant rain code, until Wednesday at 3 pm, for Constanta, Călăraşi, Ialomiţa, Giurgiu, Ilfov and Bucharest, where 80 … 100 and isolated 120 … 140 l/sqm will accumulate.

Another 14 counties in Muntenia, the southern half of Moldova, Dobrogea, Southeast Transylvania and Oltenia are under orange code and yellow rain code.
