Iraid is controversial
On this day, the memory of the Virgin Raisa (Iiraids) of Alexandria was celebrated.
In Rus' there was an interesting custom for this day. People who had problems with money wondered about their fate. To do this, it was necessary to approach the confluence of the two rivers and gain the same amount of water into two jugs. Then these jugs had to be brought home and observed from which water would evaporate faster. If earlier water, recruited from a more full -flowing river, begins to decrease, it means that the monetary troubles will continue.
At the same time, guessing about fate was considered useless – still nothing can be changed. “Do not say from Suma and from prison,” the people said. But it was forbidden to recalculate your troubles: they said that how much you count, so much you are on the click.
But they tried to attract good luck: to be always profitable, they laid a coin with a flaw in the wallet, but necessarily not selected on the road, but received from someone-to pay labor, for the goods sold or for delivery.
A real cold autumn began with Iraids.
The hostesses on this day prepared a special dish – naughty. To do this, boiled potatoes were tilted, they chewed it with eggs and milk, poured a mixture on an rye cake, wrapping its edges, and then baked in the furnace.
