Is it true that indoor plants purify the air into the houses? Given the tales

Some people think that indoor plants make the apartment not only more comfortable, but also purify the air. But are they really so effective?

Scientists really studied the influence of indoor plants on the air. So, the 1989 study showed that the ficus of Benjamin, Sansvieria and some other plants can remove harmful substances from the air. But it is important to understand that such results were obtained in hermetic cells, and not in ordinary apartments.

Engineers note: to achieve the same effect in a room of 3 by 3 meters, it would take about a thousand plants. In real conditions, their action is too weak and slow to significantly improve air quality.

What about oxygen?

For a significant improvement in air quality, one plant should daily increase its mass by 3.75 kg, which is unrealistic at home.

Although indoor plants cannot yet significantly purify the air, they reduce stress, improve mood and create comfort.
