The United States will revoke the visa of Colombian President Gustavo Petro because he “urged American soldiers not to comply with orders and incited violence” in New York on Friday, the State Department announced, according to Reuters.

“We will revoke Petro's visa because of his insane and incendiary actions,” the State Department announced on X.

Petro, in New York for the General Assembly of the United Nations, told the crowd gathered in front of the UN headquarters: “I ask all the soldiers of the United States to not straighten the weapons. Do not listen to the orders of LuTrump. Listen to the orders of humanity!”

His office and the Foreign Ministry of Colombia did not respond immediately to the requests for statements.

In his speech on Tuesday, addressed to the global meeting, Petro attacked and Trump, saying that the American leader is “complicit at the genocide” in Gaza and has asked for “criminal prosecution” for US missiles on some suspected drug trafficking in Caribbean waters.

Petro's profile on social networks on Friday showed that he had reconciled several video clips in which he was talking about a New York Pro-Palestinian protesters gathering.

“Release Palestine. If Gaza falls, humanity dies,” Petro wrote in a post on X.

The Colombian leader, a vocal opponent of the Israel's war in Gaza, suspended coal exports to Israel.
