The sentence was pronounced by the magistrates of the Center Court of Appeal, transmits open.md.
The Russian propagandist, the former de facto chief of the official Russian propaganda body Sputnik, managed to leave the territory of the Republic of Moldova before the sentence.
According to the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, in December 2009, Iurie Roșca requested, for himself, the sum of one million euros from the manager of a company. In exchange for money, he would have promised that the president of the Supreme Court of Justice will influence an appeal filed by the respective company against a decision of the Economic Court of Appeal.
On August 2, the Chisinau District Court declared Roșca guilty of committing the influence trafficking offense, pronouncing a sentence of 6 years of imprisonment, with execution in a semi-closed type penitentiary. The court ordered the confiscation of the convicted account, for the benefit of the state, the amount of $ 227 thousand.
His lawyers challenged the sentence.
By the decision of the Court of Appeal, it was ordered to reduce the term of sentence by two years.
The decision is enforceable and can be challenged at the Supreme Court of Justice within 2 months from the date of the full communication of the decision.
