Trump: I don't want Slovakia and Hungary to be blamed
At the same time, Trump stated that while Türkiye – one of the greatest importers of Russian oil – can buy raw material from other sources, it Hungary and Slovakia cannot do the same, Due to the geographical location and addiction to delivery from one pipeline.
– I talked to him (Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban), he is a great guest, he is my friend, so it's more difficult for them. And for Slovakia too (…) I just don't want people to blame them – he said. Trump added that he also had a long conversation with Slovaks on this subject.
From the beginning of the war, Hungary and Slovakia have brought oil a total of value – respectively EUR 8.3 billion – EUR 8 billion. The main source of delivery is the southern section of the Przyjaźń pipeline, which is not subject to EU sanctions.
