Scandal in rars. The trial on the extradition of Michał Kuczmierowski is starting


The trial before the London court concerns the validity of the extradition order, which was issued last autumn by the Polish authorities. At the beginning of September 2024, Kuczmierowski was detained in London.

In February this year, the British justice system decided that Kuczmierowski could leave the detention of a bail and a guarantee. On February 10, the former head of Rars was released, but is currently in Great Britain.

His defense applied for an iron letter. On September 10, the District Court in Warsaw did not accept the application for such a document, despite the three -time efforts of the suspect's defenders. Each time the prosecutor's office opposed this. If Kuczmierowski obtained an iron letter, after returning to the country he would not be arrested until the final ending of the proceedings against him.

Investigation into the scandal in RARS

The former head of RARS heard in August 2024 allegations regarding participation in an organized criminal group, failure to fulfill his duties and exceeding his rights to achieve financial benefits.

The investigation into irregularities in RARS was initiated on December 1, 2023 and is being conducted by the Silesian Department of the Department of Organized Crime and Corruption of the National Prosecutor's Office in Katowice. It applies to, among others exceeding the rights and failure to comply with RARS employees when organizing and implementing the purchase of goods, and thus actions to the detriment of the public interest from February 23, 2021 to November 27, 2023 in Warsaw in order to achieve financial benefits.
