Safety Alert: Needles and Magnets Found in Halloween Candy in Germany

Authorities in Germany reported that several pieces of candy contained metal needles, raising concerns about safety during Halloween. The exact source of these contaminated treats is currently unknown, as children went door-to-door collecting candy.
Police have initiated an investigation and issued a warning to parents, advising them to thoroughly inspect all collected candy before allowing their children to consume it.
Given the circumstances, officials suspect that foreign objects were intentionally placed in the candy to cause harm, according to a police statement. A criminal case has been opened on suspicion of attempted assault with aggravating circumstances.
The police department in Ingelheim revealed that after one mother saw a warning about the danger, she and her nine-year-old son checked their candy and found a chewable sweet with two magnets attached, each approximately two millimeters in diameter. This incident was reported to the local police station.
So far, there have been no reported injuries, and the investigation is ongoing.
