Romania Showcases Rich Heritage in New BBC Tourism Spots

Three promotional tourism videos aimed at showcasing Romania will be aired on BBC World News starting today, with a schedule stretching over a month.
The 60-second clips collectively illustrate Romania’s tourism offerings, focusing on its natural wonders, adventure opportunities, cultural heritage, and local identity. In total, there will be 20 airings, as announced by the Ministry of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship, and Tourism in a press release referenced by Agerpres.
This promotion is part of a broader campaign organized by the ministry.
One of the videos leverages the legend of Dracula, which has gained international fame, making it particularly appealing as it airs during the Halloween season. Daniel Zamfir, the Minister of Economy, emphasized the importance of showing tourists that Romania has much more to offer beyond this legend, with destinations and experiences worth exploring year-round that encourage repeat visits.
According to reports, the three videos feature distinct concepts. “Wild Romania” showcases its landscapes, nature, and ecotourism and adventure opportunities; “Sounds Like Romania” captures the country through its natural sounds; and “Romania, So Much More Than Dracula!” provides a fresh perspective on Dracula’s mythology, highlighting the natural and cultural attractions of Transylvania.
Thanks to efforts from Charlie Ottley, the last video will enjoy two additional airings on October 30 and 31, including Halloween, ahead of the official campaign launch.
British television producer Charlie Ottley has permanently relocated to Romania and obtained Romanian citizenship at the end of last year. He announced plans to convert the original visitor center in Şirnea, where he resides, into an English pub.
While the promotional videos are aired on BBC World News, Romania will also be participating in the World Travel Market (WTM) in London, taking place from November 3 to 5. This event is one of the most influential international tourism platforms and facilitates networking among industry professionals.
Romania’s participation is organized by MEDAT, with 35 co-exhibitors present at the national stand. The country’s delegation will be led by Minister Daniel Zamfir.
