New Legislation Aims to Support Frontline Workers in Ukraine

Ukrainian legislators have introduced a package of laws designed to support workers in frontline territories, with proposals including a special status for those involved in maintaining life in combat zones. According to MP Mykhailo Ananchenko, these initiatives have been developed in collaboration with the Association of Frontline Cities and Communities.
The legislation proposes that workers in active combat areas receive a special designation as “participants in ensuring the viability of territories under combat conditions.” This status would come with added guarantees for wages, paid leave, medical assistance, rehabilitation services, and tax benefits.
Work performed in active combat zones would count toward pension contributions at double the rate, while periods of potential combat would be credited at one and a half times the standard rate. This provision would apply to documented periods of work starting from February 24, 2022.
Additionally, the legislation aims to reduce corporate profit tax to 9% for businesses operating in these areas, alongside special conditions for managing loan and leasing obligations, as well as privatization processes.
