Football Federation Crisis Deepens in Serbia as Elections Face Delays

The Serbian Football Federation is facing a deepening crisis as the General Assembly scheduled for November 14 is likely to be postponed once more. This marks the potential fourth delay of elections for a new president, as incumbent Dragan Dzajic is confirmed to step down.
According to Serbian publication Sport Klub, the lack of any candidates has led to this stalemate. With the end of October being the deadline for candidacy submissions, the absence of interest has raised the likelihood of emergency measures being implemented.
No One Wants to Lead the Serbian Football Federation
The situation is exacerbated by the unprecedented lack of candidates, which could see an urgent interim commission established. However, efforts to form a cooperative local body have not reached a consensus, as noted by sportal.rs.
UEFA Steps In to Address the Crisis
The most feasible solution appears to be the establishment of a provisional leadership directly appointed by UEFA. Such an intervention is rare internationally and has never occurred in Serbian football, although UEFA officials have previously monitored Assembly meetings.
As the situation stands, Serbian football faces an uncertain future.
