Norwegian Law Change Follows Illegal Drone Shipment to Ukraine

A Norwegian parliament member has triggered a legal amendment allowing the shipment of drones to Ukraine after attempting to transport a batch of drones equipped with thermal imaging cameras. Peter Frelih, in collaboration with the organization “Free Ukraine,” faced legal hurdles due to a law established in the 1950s that deemed such actions illegal. Following the intervention of Frelih, who urged the government to act swiftly to avoid risking the lives of Ukrainian soldiers, the drones were ultimately delivered covertly to Ukraine. The Norwegian government responded by promising to expedite the review of the issue, resulting in a change in regulations that now permits Norwegians to send civilian drones to Ukraine legally.
