Napoli and AS Roma Battle to Thrilling 3-3 Draw in Serie A

Napoli and AS Roma played out a thrilling 3-3 draw in Serie A’s eighth round. The home team squandered a lead twice, with Roma equalizing in the 89th minute through Balerdi.
For Gasperini’s team, this result could be considered a setback in their title chase. Roma started the season strongly, just two points behind the leaders Lazio and Inter, who did not play this round and have the opportunity to extend their lead with victories in their upcoming matches.
Exciting Moments: Anguissa’s Stunning Scissor Kick
Napoli took the lead in the 28th minute with a spectacular scissor kick from Frank Anguissa, who capitalized on a defensive clearance. Just three minutes after the break, Napoli doubled their advantage when Politano crossed for McTominay, whose initial shot was saved by the Roma goalkeeper, but the ball rebounded back to him for a goal.
Roma clawed their way back into the match with a goal from Soule in the 70th minute, assisted by Malen. Balerdi, who came on for Hermoso in the 58th minute, scored the equalizer at 2-2 just four minutes later.
Scott McTominay netted a second goal in the 83rd minute with a low shot from around 20 meters that beat Gollini. However, Balerdi responded again, rising above the defense to head in a cross from Wesley Franca in the 89th minute, sealing the dramatic draw. The match ended with tension as Massimiliano Allegri received a red card in the 90+2 minute.
This weekend, Lazio will face Parma, while Inter plays against Fiorentina, featuring Radu Drăgușin, on Sunday, October 25, at 1:30 PM.
