US and Israel Prepare Military Offensive Against Iran Post-Elections

The United States and Israel are organizing a military offensive against Iran, scheduled to proceed after the legislative elections in the US on November 3. This move follows President Donald Trump’s decision to delay an earlier attack in October, during a period when both military forces were on high alert, as reported by the New York Times on Thursday.

According to the New York Times, the two nations are developing a brief yet intense operation that may target Iran’s nuclear facilities, missile depots, drone sites, and energy infrastructure, according to Agerpres.

Discussions regarding the plan are taking place between Washington and Tel Aviv just two weeks ahead of a crucial election, where Americans will determine the future of Trump’s second term. Additionally, the US and Israeli military forces have escalated their exercises, practicing offensive maneuvers with aircraft over Iraq. This week, Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth met in Israel with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss potential new strikes, as cited by US officials in the New York Times.

Analysts Express Skepticism

Some military strategists suggest that a three-day offensive could inflict enough economic damage to compel Tehran to make diplomatic concessions. However, a prior offensive conducted between February and April did not yield significant progress in negotiations and instead contributed to rising energy prices and global inflation. Trump has consistently halted proposals for large-scale combat, including a planned operation for early October. Although there is a possibility that the President could authorize new attacks before November, the upcoming election schedule and his commitment to refrain from military action prior to the midterms make a pause until after the elections more likely, according to the New York Times. Meanwhile, Iran has warned that it would respond with broader attacks targeting data centers, underwater internet cables, and oil facilities in Saudi Arabia.
