European Commission Confirms Ongoing Intelligence Sharing with Ukraine

The European Commission has confirmed that there are no indications that the exchange of intelligence data between the United States and Ukraine has ceased. A spokesperson for the Commission, Toma Renier, announced that the EU is currently negotiating with Kyiv regarding access to the European GOVSATCOM satellite system for civilian purposes. However, he noted that the European Union cannot yet provide a complete alternative to Starlink for military operations.

Regarding potential restrictions on Starlink’s operations, the Commission indicated it would refrain from commenting until more information is available. SpaceX has also yet to address this matter, according to media reports.

Contextually, on the evening of October 1 and the night of October 13, Russia carried out ballistic missile strikes on Kyiv. Residents reported hearing explosions before air raid alerts, and the Ukrainian Air Force noted a lack of warnings from partners about missile launches from Russian territory. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also stated there was no information from allies regarding the threat.

Furthermore, The New York Times reported that during a meeting in Miami on October 9, US representatives urged Ukraine to cease strikes on Russian oil refineries, mentioning the provision of intelligence support, which some interpreted as a threat. Zelensky later confirmed that a warning was issued.

On October 13, US President Donald Trump asserted that the United States will continue to share intelligence with Ukraine.
