Manchester City Faces Potential 60-Point Deduction in Premier League

Manchester City has been found guilty of multiple violations of financial regulations in the Premier League, putting the club at risk of being relegated.
The club has lodged an appeal and is striving to prove its innocence, but rumors have circulated in British media that the Premier League has already decided on a punishment.
Alan Brazil: “I have heard that Manchester City will face a 60-point deduction”
Speaking on TalkSport radio, former Scottish international Alan Brazil, who played for clubs including Tottenham and Manchester United, claimed to have concrete insider information regarding potential sanctions for City.
“I have heard that Manchester City will face a 60-point penalty, which will satisfy many people and still give the team a chance to avoid relegation,” Brazil disclosed.
The timing of the Premier League’s imposition of the penalty remains unclear, according to Brazil. “I can’t imagine it happening this season, because given the timing, it would be too late for a decision to be made. Perhaps next season,” he speculated. He is certain of one thing: “There will be a 60-point deduction.”
Everton Was Deducted 8 Points for Just £41 Million in Violations
Many fans expect a significantly harsher penalty. In 2024, Everton was docked 8 points after exceeding the Premier League’s financial regulations by £35 million (approximately €41 million).
Manchester City is believed to have concealed the true source of over £900 million (approximately €1.1 billion), allowing the club to spend more on transfer fees than permitted. The exact amount remains unclear.
The club submitted its appeal on October 1. According to league regulations, this requires a hearing within the next eleven weeks. A new committee will review the case during this hearing. A final decision must be rendered within 30 days of this hearing. If City is found guilty again, sanctions could be imposed.
