Russia Strikes Northern Bridge in Kyiv: Latest Updates

On the morning of October 3, Russian forces targeted the Northern Bridge in Kyiv, leading to significant damage and a halt in traffic across the structure. Emergency services responded promptly to the scene following the attack.
Kyiv’s Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that the roadway and the trolleybus contact network on the Northern Bridge were affected by the strike. Authorities have since closed traffic from the left bank to the right bank of the Dnipro River.
Furthermore, Klitschko noted that the Southern Bridge was attacked for the fourth time just the day before. In a statement from the Kyiv City State Administration, Deputy Head of the Administration Petro Panteleev revealed that Russian forces are systematically targeting key bridges connecting different parts of the city, impacting traffic flow.
During this period, the Southern Bridge was completely shut down, while the Metro Bridge operated under restricted conditions. The Paton and Northern bridges also faced traffic limitations during the air raid sirens, however, the Podilsky Bridge operated in a reverse mode with restrictions during alerts, and the Darnytsky Bridge remained open.
In addition to the bridge attacks, the State Emergency Service reported that Kyiv’s suburbs were targeted overnight, causing injuries to four individuals, including a child, in the town of Hostomel. Emergency crews worked to extinguish fires that erupted in two warehouse facilities in the Bucha district. Ongoing operations are focused on debris removal and structural assessment at the affected sites.
