Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky did not clarify the nature of the Pelican but media sources speculated it could be linked to a proposed Ukrainian ballistic missile, which was expected to launch in the fall.
This speculation was bolstered by the fact that Pelican is a new brand associated with the Ukrainian defense company Fire Point, known for producing the “Flamingo” missiles and FP-1 and FP-2 drones. In April, Fire Point registered the trademark “Pelican,” leading to assumptions that it could be the name of their ballistic missile FP-7.
However, sources from RBC-Ukraine have clarified that Pelican actually refers to an aircraft-type drone, with no further details disclosed about its specifications or capabilities.
