The Irkutsk region in Siberia has significantly increased its recruitment bounty to 1.5 million rubles, which is equivalent to almost $18,000, for individuals who successfully recruit foreign citizens to join the Russian military. This amount represents the highest financial incentive offered by any Russian region for the enlistment of a foreign soldier, according to independent publication Viorstka, as cited by The Kyiv Independent. The regional governor has emphasized this new policy as part of efforts to bolster military personnel amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
