Ukrainian Forces Achieve Record Strike Deep Inside Russia

Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SSO) have achieved a historic milestone by successfully striking critical Russian facilities located more than 3000 kilometers away from the Ukrainian border. This unprecedented strike targeted two major facilities in the Russian gas and condensate industry: the Novy Urengoy and Purovsky plants, both situated in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, a key oil and gas extraction region in Russia.

According to the SSO, combat drones covered a distance of over 3000 km to reach their targets, which had previously been considered a secure rear area for Russian forces. The SSO emphasized that these facilities play a crucial role in preparing and processing significant volumes of gas condensate extracted from fields in the Yamal region.

The Novy Urengoy Gas Processing Plant boasts a designed capacity of 19.5 million tons of raw materials per year, while the Purovsky Plant processed 13.4 million tons of gas condensate in 2025. The military underscored the importance of the gas and condensate industry to the Russian economy, noting its role in sustaining the Kremlin’s military efforts and enabling ongoing combat operations.

The SSO has pledged to continue implementing long-range sanctions against Russia, aiming to diminish its capabilities to conduct aggressive warfare. Earlier, Ukrainian defense company Fire Poin hinted at the strike on the remote Russian plant, with regional governor Dmitry Artyukhov confirming an attack involving UAVs that resulted in a fire at an industrial site in Novy Urengoy. Monitoring group Exilenova+ subsequently shared images and videos from the scene of the incident.
