Last summer, Isak pushed for a transfer from Newcastle, expressing a desire to join Liverpool, the then reigning champions of England. Ultimately, Newcastle agreed to let him go for a staggering fee of €145 million, but this decision severely damaged his relationship with the club’s fans.
Newcastle Fans Boo Isak as He Returns
Today marked Isak’s first return to St. James’ Park, and he was met with hostility upon his arrival. As he disembarked from the team bus, local fans booed loudly and chanted insults, calling him a “rat.”
Despite playing the full match, Isak did not score or significantly contribute to his team’s goals. He has managed to net only four goals in 23 appearances for Liverpool.
