Former Snooker Champion Graeme Dott Faces Court Over Child Abuse Allegations

Graeme Dott, a 49-year-old former world snooker champion crowned in 2006, has appeared at the High Court in Glasgow facing allegations of sexual abuse involving minors.
The accusations involve inappropriate and lewd behavior towards a girl and a boy, reportedly occurring between 1993 and 2010, according to the BBC.
Graeme Dott Charged with Sexual Abuse of Minors
These incidents allegedly took place on multiple occasions at various locations in East Glasgow and South Lanarkshire, including inside a vehicle. Dott, who secured his world title in 2006, has denied the charges against him.
Specific allegations concerning the girl include claims that he touched her inappropriately, requested that she undress, and exposed himself in front of her.
Regarding separate accusations of abuse towards the boy, it is alleged that Dott made sexually suggestive remarks, entered a bathroom while the boy was showering, and molested him.
The female witness, now in her 40s, recounted the first incident occurring when she was around nine or ten years old in a Glasgow home. Initially, she was in a room with other young people when Dott entered. At one point, she expressed a desire to go downstairs, and Dott offered to carry her down, which she accepted.
“He took me down the stairs and we reached the landing. There was a window in the hall that faced the street. He stopped. He began to touch my bottom with his hands,” the woman recalled, noting that he touched her over her clothing for “a few minutes.”
Prosecutor Lindsey Dalziel asked if she remembered any words from Dott during that time. “I think he said, ‘that feels good’ or something like that, I don’t remember,” she responded.
She continued detailing another alleged incident where Dott supposedly asked her if she wanted to play a guessing game. She claims Dott suggested she take off her trousers and lifted her top, beginning to kiss her around the abdomen.
In 2006, Dott became the world snooker champion after defeating England’s Peter Ebdon with a score of 18-14. Two years prior, the Scot lost a world final to Ronnie O’Sullivan, 18-8. Dott reached the World Snooker Championship final for the third time in 2010 but lost to Australia’s Neil Robertson, 18-13.
