Beginning July 18, Ukrainian forces have attacked approximately 20 logistics centers belonging to the Wildberries company across Russia, according to reports from Kyiv Post and The Moscow Times.
A drone strike carried out overnight from Monday to Tuesday hit new warehouses of the Russian retail giant Wildberries in the Voronezh region, igniting fires over tens of thousands of square meters, as stated by officials and the company.
Voronezh Governor Alexander Gusev reported that around 15 drones targeted the city of Voronezh and surrounding districts. The attack resulted in one fatality and two injuries, with the latter requiring hospitalization.
“Fires broke out at two warehouses belonging to a major company,” Gusev wrote on Telegram, as per Kyiv Post.
He noted that one fire spread over an area of 16,000 square meters, while the other affected 20,000 square meters. Drone debris also damaged several vehicles, according to the governor.
Warehouse Opened Last Year with $120 Million Investment
Wildberries confirmed that its logistics infrastructure was impacted, stating that employees were evacuated “according to safety requirements.”
The targeted facility is a major distribution center for Wildberries located in Aleksandrovka village in the Novousmanski district of Voronezh. The complex spans 152,900 square meters and can store over 90 million products.
Inaugurated in November 2025, the facility was built at a cost of approximately 11 billion rubles ($120 million) by Wildberries & Russ, the company formed from a merger that underpins Russia’s largest online marketplace.
Ongoing Attacks Targeting the E-Commerce Giant
This strike represents the latest in a series of Ukrainian attacks against Wildberries’ logistics network, which Kiev increasingly targets as part of a broader strategy against Russian economic infrastructure linked to the military sector.
According to the Russian publication “Verstka,” since July 18, Ukrainian forces have struck around 20 logistics centers of Wildberries across Russia. Among the affected facilities are warehouses in Elektrostal, Krasnodar, Nevinnomyssk, Ekaterinburg, St. Petersburg, and other locations.
At least 14 warehouses are reported to have burned, with the total affected storage area exceeding 1.5 million square meters — approximately 27% of Wildberries’ total storage capacity.
The attacks have resulted in significant financial losses for the company and its vendors.
Massive Financial Losses
Market sources cited by The Bell estimate Wildberries’ direct losses to range between 100-200 billion rubles ($1.1–2.2 billion), with the company potentially needing up to 1.3 trillion rubles ($14.4 billion) in additional funding.
The attacks have directly impacted thousands of independent sellers on the Wildberries platform, who are now trying to recover losses caused by the destroyed inventories in warehouse fires.
According to Reuters, hundreds of billions of rubles would be necessary to compensate Wildberries sellers for destroyed goods, yet the Russian government lacks the funds to cover these losses.
“No one has that amount of money to support the sellers. We are talking about hundreds of billions of rubles,” a Kremlin source told Reuters.
The situation is particularly dire for individual entrepreneurs, who make up a significant portion of vendors on the Wildberries platform. Under Russian law, they are personally liable for their business debts.
Sellers who purchased inventory on credit now face not only business bankruptcy but also the risk of having their personal assets confiscated if they cannot repay their loans.
The e-commerce platform has begun compensating affected sellers, but payments remain limited, with many reportedly receiving less than 10% of the value of goods destroyed or damaged in the warehouse fires.
