The Russian education authorities have approved a new textbook for students in grades five to seven, titled “History of Our Region: Donbas and Novorossiya.” This textbook will teach students about the history of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions from ancient times to the present.
According to the Russian Ministry of Education, the curriculum will also include the so-called “post-war years.” In June, Sergey Kravtsov, the Minister of Education, claimed that the new textbook contains “real information” in contrast to “Ukrainian textbooks.”
Kravtsov stated that this educational resource will be mandatory in all schools located in the temporarily occupied territories. During the textbook’s presentation, Vladimir Medinsky, an assistant to the illegitimate president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, noted that the materials had reportedly been personally edited by Dmitry Medvedev, the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia. Medinsky insisted that this content is not propaganda but rather a reflection of the actual society.
