Elderly Woman Faces 21,571 UAH Bill for Extra Electricity Usage

An 81-year-old woman recently faced a staggering bill of 21,571 UAH for excess electricity usage, prompting concerns over the fairness of utility charges for pensioners. The issue came to light when the woman approached the Human Rights Commissioner, Dmytro Lubinets, seeking assistance with her mounting utility debt.
Upon his intervention, an investigation was initiated which allowed the energy company to reassess the woman’s charges. Lubinets expressed that while they were able to assist the elderly woman, such situations should not occur, highlighting the distress caused to those living on fixed incomes. He condemned the circumstances surrounding her bill as a form of exploitation against those with limited financial resources.
