Drone Collides with Ukrainian An-124 Aircraft in Leipzig Airport Incident

An FPV drone collided with the wing of a Ukrainian An-124 cargo plane at Leipzig Airport in Germany on August 4. The incident occurred at 20:30 Kyiv time. Despite the impact being on a sensitive area of the wing containing fuel tanks, the drone bounced off the aircraft’s surface and fell to the ground without detonating.
Analysis of video footage revealed that the drone was armed with Semtex plastic explosives. This evidence contradicts earlier speculation that the drone strike was merely a warning and not intended to cause actual damage. U.S. assessments have indicated that the drone was linked to Russian intelligence services.
