Romanian head coach Cristi Chivu analyzed Inter’s recent 2-1 victory against Juventus, expressing satisfaction with the overall training camp despite some criticisms. The match took place on Saturday at Optus Stadium in Perth, Australia, as part of Inter’s summer preparations.
The win against Juventus marked a positive turn for Inter, who had previously drawn two games during their training camp. They drew 1-1 with Manchester City, eventually winning 3-1 on penalties, and also finished level at 1-1 with AC Milan.
Chivu’s Reaction Following the Victory
After the match, Chivu reflected on his team’s performance, praising the conclusion of their training camp but noting areas needing refinement before the season opener on August 22. “There is always room for improvement. I believe we finished the camp in the best possible way, without injuries and with an overall solid performance,” he stated.
However, when asked if Inter is ready for the upcoming season, Chivu replied, “Not yet. We lack physical conditioning and need to train further to shine. I was particularly unhappy with the second half today; we lost ground and were outplayed frequently,” as reported by fcinter1908.it.
Chivu also acknowledged Juventus’ strength, stating, “Juventus is a good, well-trained team. Preparation matches matter only a little. They have quality players and will play a significant role this season in Italy.”
Developing Young Talents
Chivu discussed the young players he has utilized during the training period and his expectations for them. “My role is to train them and provide opportunities to express themselves at their best. They need to progress and adapt to the pace of these matches,” he explained.
“I don’t need to promote anyone; they have quality. For me, the reaction to mistakes and how they approach certain players is what counts. All the youngsters contributed their share,” the coach added.
Inter’s final friendly match of the summer is scheduled against Betis on August 15. The team will officially start their new season at home against Monza on August 22. Before the opening match, Chivu must finalize his starting lineup, including decisions on Stones, Lautaro, and Thuram. “Do I need to see Stones, Lautaro, and Thuram for the match against Monza? I will have time to review them in practice before making our choices,” Chivu concluded.
