Tragic Shooting Claims Life of 15-Year-Old Brazilian Footballer

Micael Leandro da Silva tragically lost his life at just 15 years old after being accidentally caught in a gunfire exchange between rival gangs following an amateur football match in Maceió, Brazil. The former youth player of the São Paulo academy was preparing to join a new club to advance his football career.

Reports indicate that da Silva was fatally shot in Maceió as he had just finished participating in the Taça das Grotas amateur tournament. Investigators believe the attack was carried out by members of rival drug trafficking gangs, emphasizing that da Silva was not involved in any criminal activities.

Accidentally Shot at Just 15 Years Old

Several others were also injured by stray bullets during the tragic incident. Da Silva was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

Marcos Antônio Leandro, da Silva’s father, expressed his grief to local media after the fatal shooting: “My family has been destroyed by two criminals who came and shot my son in the back. The match had just ended, and he was changing, so he had no chance to escape. I am devastated. His brothers haven’t stopped crying.”

Leandro further shared the significance of football in their lives, saying, “I raised all my children humbly, teaching them how to be good people. It’s not easy to lose a son who had so many dreams.” Da Silva was the youngest of five children.

“From a very young age, he stood out in football. He lived and breathed it. He had already won titles in futsal and football with CSA. He was excited to return to the field and eagerly awaited the days until he could travel to Recife and join Retrô,” his father added.

Da Silva was part of the São Paulo youth academy, playing for the U14 and U15 teams. He joined the club in 2025 and remained until April this year, contributing to the victory in the Copa Fictor U15 in 2026.
