Rapid București Signs Serbian-Swiss Striker Filip Stojilkovic

Filip Stojilkovic, a 26-year-old striker, has arrived in Bucharest to undergo a medical examination as part of his signing with Rapid București. Head coach Daniel Pancu expressed his enthusiasm regarding this new acquisition from Pisa, a club recently relegated from Serie A.

Stojilkovic, who was previously signed by Pisa for €3 million earlier this year, is expected to join Pancu’s squad pending a successful medical review.

Pancu’s Optimism About Stojilkovic

During a press conference ahead of the upcoming league match against UTA on Friday at 21:00, Pancu shared his optimism about the striker’s potential impact. “Yes, I’m waiting for him. I hope he passes the medical examination. He is a very, very good player. You will see. The key now is for him to adapt quickly, but being a talented player, I don’t think he will have difficulties,” Pancu stated.

He added that Stojilkovic’s previous experience in Poland, where he scored several goals in atmospheres similar to what he will encounter at Rapid, played a role in his decision to join the team.

Additional Reinforcements Needed

Pancu also indicated that the team is looking to strengthen its midfield, stating, “We’re still waiting for reinforcements. As you’ve noticed, we haven’t had a central midfielder on the bench for the last two matches, so we’ve been improvising. I’m certain we will bring in at least one more player for that position.”

When asked about potential departures, Pancu remarked that all players are available for transfer, emphasizing his role as a coach rather than a manager, stating, “I coach what I have at my disposal.”

Stojilkovic, a former Swiss youth international, had a stint in Poland earlier this season with Cracovia, where he scored 7 goals in 19 appearances. He also played 13 matches for Pisa without finding the net and made 6 appearances in the Bundesliga for Darmstadt, also failing to score.
