In a thrilling match, Rapid defeated CFR Cluj 3-1. Following the game, midfielder Cătălin Vulturar, 22, shared insights on what led to the team’s success.
Vulturar highlighted the team’s growth and the influence of coach Daniel Pancu on the locker room since his arrival. He noted that although CFR Cluj dominated possession and scored through Drazic, Rapid maintained control of the match.

He remarked, “It was a superb match from my perspective. We had a very good first half in every aspect: offensively, defensively, and in spirit. In the second half, even without holding the ball a lot, I believe we were in control because we didn’t give them space or opportunities to finish their actions. Each of us left everything on the field, and I’m glad for that, as we are increasingly growing as a team, as a family, as a group, which motivates us to push forward. It’s been a long time since Rapid won against CFR, and we were very eager to win today, which showed on the pitch.”

When asked about any special motivation from Pancu before facing his former team, Vulturar stated that the coach’s approach remains consistent for every match. “No, I believe the motivation he gives us is the same for every game. Knowing him a bit better than my teammates, having worked with him at the national team, I think he treats each match with utmost seriousness. Mister manages to bring the spirit of the supporters into the locker room, both during the week and before matches, and we’ve started to feel that more and more, both on the bench and in general.”
On the topic of potential transfer talks involving Alex Dobre, Vulturar opted not to speculate. “I don’t know anything about that. He is a very good player, and it’s normal for there to be interest. Right now, I know nothing and don’t want to comment further,” he said.
