Eight Categories of Ukrainians Lose Military Draft Exemptions

In a significant policy change, new legislation has taken effect in Ukraine, leading to the loss of military draft exemptions for eight specific categories of citizens. This update affects various groups, including:

  • Students and postgraduates studying through evening or distance learning, as well as those pursuing a second or third higher education.
  • Men with multiple children who are in arrears on alimony payments.
  • Individuals caring for a spouse with a third-degree disability.
  • Single parents, provided that the mother has neither lost parental rights nor is deceased or missing, and is not serving a prison sentence.
  • Men caring for individuals with first or second-degree disabilities, if there are no other capable family members available.
  • Employees in enterprises and organizations under the Ministry of Defense.
  • Individuals classified as “limited fit” whose status has been revoked.
  • Men who have been deemed healthy by a repeated military medical commission, particularly those who received disability certificates after February 24, 2022, must undergo another medical examination.

This shift in policy highlights the ongoing adjustments within Ukraine’s military mobilization framework amid ongoing conflicts.
