Former international footballer Ciprian Marica, who is now a shareholder at Farul, has raised concerns regarding financial stability within the Superliga.
After FCSB’s 2-0 victory against Csikszereda, Marica reflected on his analysis of Istvan Szabo’s team, observing that they no longer seem as strong or confident as they did last season. This decline comes in the wake of a decision by Hungarian authorities to reassess investment programs that previously funneled significant funds into foreign football.

Marica stated, “FCSB played excellently, but Csikszereda didn’t pose much of a challenge. It’s evident how vulnerable teams become when their financial security is uncertain and doubts start to surface.
He emphasized a shift in perception, noting, “People would say, ‘Look how well Superliga teams are organized!’ They performed well because they had funding and substantial budgets. When there is money, everyone organizes efficiently. The real test comes when funds are limited. That’s when problems arise and questions emerge. It’s easy to manage with money; the real challenge begins when the funding isn’t yours. When it’s your money, you pay attention and take care; with public funds…”
Marica further articulated that uncertainties lead to poor performance, remarking, “If football could yield results, it would have been done much earlier by others. But that’s not the reality. It requires investment,” he said in an interview.
“Dinamo has performed well, certainly in contrast to Craiova, which is engaged in international matches. We aren’t accustomed to playing every three days. When a team competes in European fixtures, their domestic performance often suffers, and vice versa. It’s challenging to excel in both arenas,” Marica added.
