The showdown between Romania and Turkey is fast approaching, with only 16 days separating us at this moment from the confrontation scheduled in Istanbul.

In the context of the conflict that broke out in the Middle East, after the massive attack launched by the United States of America and Israel on Iran, followed by Tehran's retaliation against some states in the region, a natural question arises: is there a risk that the match will be played in another location?

However, according to sources close to the Turkish Football Federation, there is currently no risk of the dam being moved. Istanbul is more than a thousand kilometers away from the areas in the southeast of the country where the missiles were intercepted.

  • Turkey – Romania will be played on March 26, from 19:00, match broadcast by Prima TV. If we win, we play the World Cup qualification final against Slovakia / Kosovo on March 31, 2026.

  • Gazeta Sporturilor will have 6 experienced reporters in Istanbul, who will transmit the most important information, the hottest reports and a series of multimedia correspondence.

“There is no chance the match will be moved or not played”

According to the latest information obtained by Gazeta Sporturilor, “There is no chance that the match will be moved or not contested.

Istanbul is safe from conflict, today the Champions League match is being played here (no – Galatasaray – Liverpool), there are no problems at the moment. The stadium will be full, and that can only make both teams involved happy.”

After the escalation of tensions, two ballistic missiles launched from Iran were intercepted in Turkish airspace within five days. The first was shot down on March 4, 2026 by NATO missile defense systems after crossing the airspace of Iraq and Syria on its way to Turkish territory.

The second missile was intercepted on March 9, 2026 over the Gaziantep regionin southern Turkey. The fragments fell on open ground without causing casualties or damage. Earlier yesterday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan sent a strong message to Iran, warning Tehran's leaders “not to destroy 1,000 years of brotherhood”.
