Arsenal is now prepared to offer €82 million for Brazilian international Bruno Guimaraes, after an initial bid of under €70 million was swiftly rejected by Newcastle United.
Despite Arsenal’s substantial offer, Newcastle officials have firmly stated that Guimaraes is not for sale. However, reports from The Sun indicate that the 28-year-old midfielder has personally conveyed his desire to join the Premier League champions.
Arsenal’s Summer Investments Reach €80 Million
This summer transfer window has been challenging for Arsenal, with the recent acquisition of winger Christos Tzolis from FC Bruges finalized on Thursday for €40 million. Additionally, they made Piero Hincapie’s loan from Bayer Leverkusen a permanent deal, also for €40 million.
The Premier League champions missed out on signing Morgan Rogers, who joined Chelsea for €137 million. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was a significant admirer of the forward, having closely monitored him throughout the summer, but the club’s leadership chose not to match Chelsea’s hefty offer for the Aston Villa international.
Mikel Arteta Targets Additional Reinforcements
Arsenal aims to secure another defender, midfielder, and striker before the current transfer window closes. Ezri Konsa is a preferred candidate for defense, especially with news that William Saliba will be sidelined for several months due to a back injury.
John Stones is also a potential target following the expiration of his contract with Manchester City last month. For offensive reinforcement, Arteta is eyeing Julian Alvarez, although Atletico Madrid continues to assert that the attacker is not available.
Arsenal is also considering French international Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain, but they face intense competition from Bayern Munich and Liverpool for his signature.
