England Secures Bronze Medal in Thrilling 6-4 Victory Over France

England triumphed over France with a remarkable 6-4 victory in a thrilling match that secured them the bronze medal. The game featured standout performances, including a hat-trick from Bukayo Saka.

The first half of the match was extraordinary, with England leading 4-0 at halftime. However, France made a strong push in the second half, nearly staging a historic comeback. The penalty converted by Saka and a brilliant run from Jude Bellingham ultimately ensured the victory for England.

Tuchel: “This Team Has Created Something Very Special”

Head coach Thomas Tuchel reflected on the match, saying, “We had an excellent first half, followed by a chaotic second half. It was evident how much difference a single day can make, along with the impact of match schedules.”

He expressed pride in the team’s endurance, stating, “We are extremely tired after recent weeks. The mental resilience shown is remarkable. Overcoming such adversities is truly commendable.”

Tuchel pointed out the physical demands of the match, acknowledging the superiority of France’s recovery time and travel distances. “They had an extra day to recover from the semifinals, while we played in heat and at altitude. This became evident in the second half with cramps and fatigue, yet I was never concerned about our mentality,” he added.

Saka: “It’s Too Late to Discuss That”

As the hero of the night, Saka described the match as “absolutely crazy.” He noted both teams were disappointed not to reach the final but focused on finishing strongly for the country. “We are pleased with this result, marking the best performance at the World Cup in 60 years,” he said.

Saka emphasized the dynamics of the game, explaining, “We won the first half; they took the second, but we scored the goals that delivered our victory.” When asked about his limited playtime during the tournament, he stated, “Of course, I wish I had played more, but it’s too late to discuss that. I aim to let my performance speak on the field, and now it’s over, so we move on. But I am fit.”
