Ukrainian Ambassador to the U.S. Iryna Stefanishyna Resigns at Her Request

Iryna Stefanishyna has requested to resign from her position as Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States due to personal circumstances. This development was reported amid a broader political strategy shift and government overhaul announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
President Zelensky commended Stefanishyna’s performance during her service. The announcement about government changes also included thanks to Prime Minister Yuliya Svyrydenko, who is expected to take on a significant new role in Ukraine’s relations with key partners, potentially as ambassador to the U.S. according to MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak.
Stefanishyna, who has been influential in steering Ukraine’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration efforts since 2020, was appointed as ambassador in August 2025 after leading the Ministry of Justice in 2024.
