Barcelona Finalizes €30 Million Transfer of Karim Adeyemi from Dortmund

FC Barcelona has officially reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of forward Karim Adeyemi, who is 24 years old.
The deal is set to be finalized for an initial fee of €22 million, with an additional €7 million to be paid based on performance bonuses, according to transfer market journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The bonuses will depend on the number of matches played and trophies won by the German international while wearing the Catalan club’s jersey.
Barcelona’s intent was clear: to acquire a young player who has already demonstrated his capabilities at the senior level without incurring excessive costs. Their first offer, around €20 million, which included a percentage from a future sale, was rejected by Dortmund, who valued the player at approximately €40 million.
However, the German club was under pressure to negotiate. Adeyemi, whose contract runs until June 2027, turned down a contract extension proposal earlier this year, expressing his desire to leave the Bundesliga to revitalize his career. With the risk of losing him for free next summer, Dortmund sought to secure a financial return.
For Adeyemi, joining Barcelona will mean working again with Hansi Flick, the coach who first brought him into the German national team in 2021.
Adeyemi has Romanian roots, being born in Munich to a Nigerian father and a Romanian mother. The transfer is expected to be officially announced in the coming days.
In the last season, Adeyemi played 39 matches, scoring 10 goals and providing 6 assists. He has previously played for FC Liefering and Red Bull Salzburg.
He has made 11 appearances and scored one goal for the German national team but did not make the squad for the World Cup.
