Moldovan Government Unexpectedly Resigns Amid Corruption Allegations

In a surprising announcement, the Prime Minister of Moldova, Alexandru Munteanu, has decided to resign from his position, emphasizing a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to fostering positive change in the nation. In his statement, he expressed gratitude to the ministers, their teams, and all government employees for their professionalism and dedication.
Munteanu stated, “At the moment I realized I could no longer fulfill my duties according to the principles and beliefs I uphold, I decided to step down. […] I will continue to serve my country, regardless of the position I hold, where I live, or what responsibilities I undertake—whether in the public or private sector. I believe that duty to the country is defined not by position but by the dedication we maintain.”
While he did not elaborate on the reasons behind his resignation, reports suggest that it may be linked to corruption scandals in Moldova, including a forged diploma and pilot certificate discovered in the head of the MOLDATSA civil aviation security agency.
