Ukrainian Forces Strike Key Russian Communication Center in Moscow Region

Ukrainian armed forces have successfully targeted a significant Russian communication center located in the Moscow region. This facility, noted for being one of the most advanced communication hubs for Russian military operations, sustained considerable damage during the assault.
The attack resulted in the destruction of the main technical building, several large antennas, and a tower equipped with parabolic antennas. Reports indicate that a portion of these antennas were destroyed, emphasizing the strike’s impact on Russian communication capabilities.
According to the Russian outlet “Aгентство”, the affected site serves as a satellite communication center belonging to the 14th Main Communications Center of the Russian General Staff. Journalists have analyzed images and data released by monitoring groups Supernova+ and Exilenova+, revealing that the damaged facility is part of the strategic “Rubin” communication system, which facilitates secure governmental and military communication via relay satellites.
Earlier reports by “Aгентство” highlighted that this center has played a crucial role in transmitting command signals and providing communication services to the Ministry of Defense and other central command structures of the occupying forces. This strike is not the first by the Ukrainian forces on Russian communication centers, following previous assaults on facilities in “Dubna” and “Vladimir”.
Background
- The initial strike on the “Dubna” communication center occurred on the night of June 22, recognized as the largest satellite communication station in Russia. It historically facilitated international satellite phone channels during the 1980s to various countries, including the USA, UK, and Brazil. On June 30, President Zelensky confirmed a second strike on this facility.
