Jack Draper Withdraws from Wimbledon Due to Hand Injury

Jack Draper, the 24-year-old British tennis player currently ranked 131st in the ATP rankings, has announced his withdrawal from Wimbledon due to a recurrence of a hand injury. Draper was scheduled to face Taylor Fritz, ranked 7th, on June 30.

The former world number 5 has endured a difficult year, marred by multiple injuries that have significantly impacted his ranking.

Jack Draper Forced to Withdraw from Wimbledon

Recently, Draper began training with Andy Murray, and both players showed optimism about his potential. Murray has praised Draper’s skills in various interviews.

Initially, Draper was set to compete against Fritz in the first round of Wimbledon. However, just one day before the match, he announced his withdrawal due to his recurring hand injury.

“I am devastated to announce that I have to withdraw before my first-round match because of a recurrence of my hand injury,” Draper stated, as reported by The Sun. “There have been many painful moments in the last 12 months, but this is undoubtedly the worst, as there is no greater honor for a British player than to play at Wimbledon. I will continue to fight through this situation. Thank you for your support,” he added.

Draper’s withdrawal follows closely behind that of fellow British player Emma Raducanu, who also announced her exit from Wimbledon due to a stress fracture. Raducanu was scheduled to play against Croatia’s Antonia Ruzic, ranked 60th in the WTA.
